On the moth, what do you see?

It is different and truly magnificent to me.

Never have I seen one with this rustic color so velvety clothed

Stopped in an instant as the wings gently fold

As I walked pass this unusual insect, I could not help but think how extraordinary this was. I stole away into its tiny universe what seemed like forever just gazing at the astonishing design some take for granted. This was the first time for me to encounter such a sight. Totally clueless of what it was, but my obliviousness did not expel its beauty. It reminded me of one of my pieces, “Butterflies,” even though I knew it was not a butterfly

. The comparison was in its beauty and transformation.

What is it about this moth? Does it grab your attention at all? First, the color impressed me to no end. The deep, earthly tone was so evenly distributed, but it was the difference that reeled me in.

· The beautiful burnt orange velvet coat it wore.

· The single white dot on its forewing.

· The speckled black pattern dispersed across the back when it floats.

· Deep black eyes were like marbles.

· The texture of the mane appeared soft as cotton and the wings as pure as silk.

Just like in this moth, the first thing we notice about people is not what appeals to us. The glue is the uniqueness. As gorgeous as the color is, the little white spot jumps out at me. I cannot help but wonder why this is so. How/why is the pattern interrupted or is it? Sometimes, we judge difference as though something is wrong and fail to appreciate the distinction shown. All should be respected even the smallest facets matter. Take time to embrace diversity in all, even the dot white as snow.
