Roses or pink crapes are both flowers, and the kind does not restrict but still exudes power - beauty. I love this picture of the Pink Crapes. While driving pass them, their magnificence enthralled me. Without hesitation, I pulled over to capture a priceless moment of splendor (very spontaneous and unusual but rewarding). As I sat there thinking: “these flowers are not roses and not sure of their name,” did not impede me from a warming smile and reminiscing on one of my pieces, “The Rose.” Here is a snippet:

I believe God thought of a rose when He created a woman

Let’s make her like this was His summon

Her intrinsic beauty and divine charisma

Totally piercing the natural eye like the prickly leaves of a mimosa

My thought process behind this piece was to embrace the innate beauty of the rose while making a parallel comparison with a woman. Anyone can enjoy a flower – a rose, but we tend to fail short of the same affection when it comes to the female gender. I believe this is true indirectly and directly whether unconsciously or not. Women should be appreciated and cared for ever so gently as the flowers we love and see. We are not the same, and that should be our goal, as well. Know who you are, and that diversity of beauty gives balance. Too many times we focus our attention and value on things, and even likeness, and not on what truly matters.

For instance, roses or other types of flowers are signs of affection, and they are normally conveyed on special occasions to women. This is amusing to me…have we ever stopped to think we are the roses we received? While we love gifts, the most precious gift is within - tap into you. You have so much more to offer than that rose. Yes, water the roses and smell them, too. However, never forget the same beauty is in you.

So, I leave with you this thought for today or the next time you see a beautiful rose (literally or figuratively), the intent it to realize and embrace its difference, uniqueness, and worth. Start in the mirror…
